The competition was successfully concluded. Thank you for the support of all the amazing riders! Let’s check out the event highlight!
Up your game this summer at Tour de Link 2023, the much-anticipated latest edition of the annual cross-district cycling competition. For the third year in a row, Link is bringing wholesome fitness fun to your doorstep through this flagship community engagement event. This year, we’re going from strength to strength and introducing the all-new “Ace Team” category. We’re calling all health and fitness enthusiasts to join a team and take teamwork and bonding to the next level!
The competition will be held in two rounds from 2 to 27 August 2023 at six of Link’s malls across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Each venue will be equipped with fitness bikes to encourage people of all ages to start their fitness journeys one pedal stroke at a time.
In addition to joining the Men’s, Women’s, Children’s or Family categories, you can also hand-pick a team to compete for the title of “Hong Kong Ace Team”. Feel free to team up with anyone you like – your neighbours, family members, buddies, colleagues or even long-lost friends and distant relatives. There is no limit on the team size or participating locations. The championship will go to the team with the longest collective distance pedalled within the competition period.
While pedalling your way for individual and team glory, the mileage you cycle during the competition will also contribute to the ranking of your district. If you and your fellow district residents power your district to the highest score, Link will donate meal coupons in your name totalling $100,000 to elderly residents in need residing in the winning districts. So saddle up and get ready to ride for good and spread the joy of victory throughout your community!
What’s more, you will have the chance to earn extra rewards if you join the game as a Link Up member. By simply taking on a designated “Mission” on the Link Up mobile app, the accumulated distance you achieve at Tour de Link will earn you a supermarket voucher. During the competition period, all cycling enthusiasts are welcome to ride indoor fitness bikes at the six designated Link malls, with the goal of riding the longest distance within a specified time. There is no restriction on the number of rides or participating location. There are five categories: Men's, Women's, Children's, Family and the newly added "Ace Team" category.
Individual & Family Categories
The individual categories include Men's, Women's and Children's. Participants in the Men's and Women's categories will be given five minutes each to challenge their personal best record. The time limit for each rider in the Children's category is three minutes.
In the Family category, participants need to compete in a team of two comprising one adult (riding an adult bike) and one child (riding a kid’s bike). The duo needs to start at the same time, and each will be given a time limit of three minutes. Their combined distance cycled will be recorded as a single entry.
At each location, the first-place winner in the Men’s, Women’s, Children’s and Family categories will be crowned as the "District Cycling Champ" in the respective category. The top performers in each category across all six districts will also be awarded the "Hong Kong Cycling Champ" title in the corresponding categories.
Ace Team – NEW
In the “Ace Team" category, each participant will be given three minutes for each ride. A participant can either form a new team as the team captain, or join an existing one formed by others. There is no limit on the team size or the number of rides for each player. Members of the same team can ride at different locations at different times. A participant is allowed to join or create more than one team during the competition period. However, the distance cycled each time will only be counted once and contribute to only one team.
The total distance cycled by all the members in the team will be combined into the team’s collective distance. The team with the longest collective distance will be crowned the “Hong Kong Ace Team”. The individual team player who contributes the longest accumulated distance to the winning team will be awarded the “Ace Team MVP (Most Valuable Player)” title.
Furthermore, the collective distance cycled by all participants, regardless of category, in the same district will be generated as the overall district result. The district with the longest combined distance will be crowned the “District Champ”. Your active participation will be instrumental in making your district shine!
Real-time Rankings
To turn up the excitement even more, real-time rankings will be available both at the competition venues and on the event website.
